Mr Parijat Bhattacharjee FRCOG FICOG, is a Consultant Gynaecologist with more than 25 years experience in the field.
Mr. Bhattacharjee offers one stop service for most gynaecological problems including menstrual disorders & abnormal bleeding, fibroids, pelvic pain including endometriosis and ovarian cysts. This includes an ultrasound scan and if possible, treatment at the initial visit.
He offers surgical treatment for Ovarian cysts, fibroids (myomectomy), menstrual disorders (endometrial ablation, polyp or fibroid removal or hysterectomy), pelvic pain including endometriosis and adenomyosis. Most of the procedures are done through Minimal Access i.e. key- hole surgery (Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy).
Mr. Bhattacharjee has special interest in management of Fertility problems. He does this both in the NHS and in the private sector. He provides a one-stop service including most investigations and ultrasound scan at the same appointment. Only if surgery is needed or investigations that cannot be done at the initial visit are booked.
He offers cancer screening services including cervical, ovarian, endometrial and other gynaecological cancers. He is the Lead for Cancer services at London North West University Hospitals Healthcare Trust.
He has had extensive experience in all aspects of the speciality during his specialist training in U.K. including at Royal London & St. Bartholomew’s, Royal Free, University College London and University of Leicester hospitals.
He has further trained as a Clinical Research Fellow at The Early pregnancy, Gynaecology Ultrasound and Minimal Access Surgery unit at St. George’s Hospital, London. He had his training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Minimal Access Therapy unit at the Royal Free Hospital. He had advanced training in Infertility at the Reproductive Medicine Unit at University College London Hospital.
Mr Bhattacharjee is actively engaged in teaching. He trains postgraduate trainees from Imperial College School of Medicine. He is a trainer in Gynaecology ultrasound, Fertility and Gynaecological surgery for the RCOG Advanced skills modules. He is a trainer for the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) & International Society of Reproductive Surgery (ISRSFT). He teaches in the MRCOG examination courses of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG). He regularly trains doctors and nurses in Africa and India in Gynaecological & Obstetrics procedures with WHO/LSTM. He is an examiner & invigilator for the MRCOG & DRCOG examinations.
He teaches in Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy and Ultrasound courses of The BSGE (British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy) & International Society of Reproductive Surgery.
He has multiple publications & presentations at national & international journals and conferences including British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ISUOG), RCOG World Congress, (International Gynaecology & Obstetrics Federation (FIGO). He was an Editorial Board Member of the journal, Ultrasound and a reviewer of papers for the British Medical Journal & RCOG World Congress. He has been a co-author of a book for MRCOG examination.
Outside his clinical work, Mr Bhattacharjee is actively involved in voluntary work in Africa (WHO – LSTM) & India (RCOG) aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality & training & improving women’s health in developing countries.
